About

The Brearley School is a K-12 all-girls independent day school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, founded in 1884 by Samuel Brearley. The main 11-story building sits on East 83rd Street near the East River, with a separate Lower School building completed in 2018 on East 87th Street. The college-preparatory curriculum is academically rigorous with strong humanities, sciences, and arts programs. In 2024 Brearley launched a Free Tuition Program that covers 100% of tuition for families earning $100,000 or less, in addition to its broader need-based financial aid which serves about 20% of students. Brearley is regarded as one of the most selective K-12 schools in the United States.
